Mary asks, if you cannot trust the world to go on shining once you leave it, what is really your experience here? Can you not see the beauty? Do you not believe it too will persist?
—Mary Oliver, October
Write, meditate on, think about what you trust to live on after you part ways with earth. What elements of this life do you believe will continue on in spite of the current state of the world?
We’re all experiencing varying degrees of storm, freedom, joy, and pain. From that, our views and desires for the world differ. For me, I have always required a space to dream, create, and reimagine. Writing is special one for me. I feel closest to myself in intimate notes to self. Journaling, keeping a diary, and interacting with myself in an uncensored way in which the world that I imagine, the one that reflects my inner truth, is unlike any one thing this society has to offer, and so much of that the innate power of nature, love, and connection do.
Like Anais, I implore to create a relationship with yourself where you can create the world of your dreams. For yourself. If no one were to join you, and you could do this whole thing your way, what would that look like? How would your world operate?
in my world, there is diversity. every person that exists is welcome just as they are. it is a colorful and unique array of people and culture and self expression in the direction of honoring our innate beauty while leaving room for play, imagination, and creativity.
seeds must be born into a world. what do the people who’s hands will yield the fruit of your plant, look like? who is there? what do they look like? how do they behave? what are they doing? what is your hope for a happy, coexisting, humanity? mine is one where everyone there belongs where their feet are and feels that to be true.
