Maine 3:
okay enough with the love talk! here’s a straight to the point, cut and dry where to go what to do
Maine is massive and in order to feel like you’ve “done it all” you’ll need 1 week minimum a lifetime maximum, and definitely a plan to plan another trip maybe for another season to get a totally new and different experience
📍Bar Harbor
You can get a lot of great shopping done in the downtown Bar Harbor area. It’s going to be your typical tourist gift shops, but also numerous bookstores, clothing stores, vintage shops, shops entirely made of wood, a souvenir shop called Cool as a Moose that Brendan and Charlie think is so fetch, and restaurants, tons of restaurants that claim the best lobster roll. I didn’t get to try them, oh but I will. Despite all of the shopping, there are also opportunities for exploring the coast, hanging in the grassy knoll, swimming, and where a great deal of the more commercial boat tours depart from.
🍴Jordan’s Snack Bar — (Brendan’s Recc)
📍Northeast Harbor
Approximately 25 minutes away from Bar Harbor. There I stumbled upon Artemis Gallery which was home to local art based on the natural landscape of costal Maine.
📍Winter Harbor
The first fancy sit down restaurant we went to was also our only choice. And thank goodness.🍴TreeHouse is an excellent restaurant serving delicacies from every cuisine, while still doing seafood right. The Lobster Stew is incredible. I mean incredible stuff. It was a cream base. I swore I was going to go back and get another bowl. Fuck. Alright, so in the parking lot of Tree House, there’s also a farmers market that’s held. I got some fresh organic wild blueberries, gifts for my loved ones, a wild flower bouquet that is still centerpiece on our coffee table over a month later…I felt right at home.
Winter Harbor is considered a “Lobster town” which was perfect, granted, this is where we decided to do the lobster bake. We went to “The Lob Store” which is where I learned there are both hard and soft shell lobsters. 2 of each please! There are also lobster co-ops in Winter Harbor, which naturally adds to the charm of the town.
🍴Downeaster for tons of speciality coffee drinks & Harbor Market for coffee and breakfast foods (i.e French Toast and bacon for 2 please!)
📍Peaks Island where, there’s always another ferry…
